Foal watch continued

Well, it's been a long and confusing few weeks at the barn. Raven was showing all signs of a pending foal; dropped tail, dropped baby belly, contractions, a serious waddle and udders filled with milk. Our team took turns staying overnight at the farm and checking on her every 2 hours for an entire week. We were sure the time had come!

Predicting Raven's foal date is extra tricky for two reasons. One is that we have no idea when the baby was conceived. Because of this, we are basing everything entirely on what her body is showing us. The second is that we've put her on a medicine called Domperidone just in case her eating Fescue grass the last few months has any negative impact on the pregnancy. Usually, you can test the PH levels in their milk to help you indicate the foal date (Under 6.8 usually indicates a baby within 24 hours). Because of the medicine, the PH levels cannot accurately guide us.

As of today, we still do not have a baby. We will be running blood tests this week to ensure mama & foal are still healthy.
